ARC Léopold Griffuel Award (English version)

An annual Prize entitled "Prix ARC Léopold Griffuel" was created in 1970 in accordance with the late Mrs. Griffuel's will and testament. The prize is awarded by the Board of Directors of the French Cancer Research Association (ARC) after evaluation by an international scientific committee.

 

This prestigious prize of €150,000 is awarded to an investigator or a team, whose work has led to a major breakthrough in cancer research. The candidates must still be involved in research. If the application is filed on behalf of a single researcher, s/he must be under 65 in the nomination year.

 

All applications must be sponsored by at least two internationally renowned scientists. The letter of application may be presented either directly by the sponsors or by the candidate himself/herself, who must then obtain the letters of recommendation from his/her sponsors. This letter of application must be followed by a completed application file.

 

A candidate or a team cannot apply more than 3 sessions for the ARC Léopold Griffuel Prize.

 

The name(s) of the 41st-award winner(s) will be announced during the second-half of 2012. The official award ceremony will take place in Paris, France. The award winner must be present at the ceremony.

 

The application file must be submitted before March 30th, 2012.

Application File

The application may be completed in French or in English as follows :

  • The resume / CV of each candidate.
  • In the event of a team nomination, all team members’ names.
  • Individual or joint letters of recommendation signed by at least two internationally renowned scientists, indicating the reasons for nominating the candidate(s).
  • Evaluation of the scientific research on which this nomination is based, highlighting the candidate's outstanding contributions which have led to a major discovery in the field of cancer and, in the case of several candidates, their respective contributions.
  • List of 5 key-words, in order of relevance, describing scientific research
  • List of scientific awards received by the candidate(s) ; for each award, specify the name, year, and its scientific aims.
  • Publications : list of up to 20 of the candidate(s) most significant publications related to the research on which this nomination is based.
  • Reprint of the 3 most significant ones.
  • Name and address of the research team’s parent organization designated to receive the dedicated funds, according to article 3 of the rules and regulations (see link below).

 

The application file must be sent by both, e-mail AND postal mail. The original signed application file should be sent by special delivery no later than March 30th 2012.
